Anterior Bridges Dental Implants Charleston, WV
The loss of even just one tooth can have significant effects on your life. Losing a front tooth immediately impacts your smile. It can also affect your self-confidence. It interferes with your ability to bite food, which can prevent you from enjoying the foods you love most. You could develop a lisp, which can result in embarrassment. The surrounding teeth can begin to shift, falling into the gap and resulting in poor tooth alignment. When this happens, your risk for other dental and oral health complications increases. Revive Dental and Implant Center can replace a missing front tooth with an anterior bridge.
What is an Anterior Bridge?
An anterior bridge is a type of dental bridge specifically meant to be used at the front of your mouth to replace a missing tooth. Made from porcelain, it allows us to beautifully restore the appearance of your smile while also improving your oral health and restoring the functions of your mouth. We can design your bridge to blend in with the rest of your surrounding teeth seamlessly.
The bridge itself contains a pontic tooth, which is the false tooth. We design it to look just like the tooth you lost. The pontic tooth cannot sit in the empty space on its own. To hold it in place, the anterior bridge uses crowns. The crowns are the anchors that secure your restoration by using the teeth on each side of the gap. These anchor teeth are called the abutment teeth.
What to Expect During the Placement of Your Anterior Bridge
You will need two appointments to receive your anterior bridge. The first appointment is used to prepare the abutment teeth and take impressions. Preparing the teeth is a necessary process that involves the removal of a small amount of enamel from tooth, making them smaller. By removing tooth enamel, we ensure that the crowns will fit properly over the abutment teeth and that your anterior bridge will fit your mouth perfectly. To ensure your comfort during this process, you will be given a local anesthetic. The impression is taken immediately after the teeth are prepared.
We send your impression to our lab. There, technicians use it to bring your custom anterior bridge to life. Because it can take a couple of weeks for the restoration to be returned, we provide you with a temporary one. This temporary bridge is meant to help protect your prepared teeth as well as the health of your mouth. Your second appointment occurs once we receive your final restoration. We assess its fit and your bite and then bond it to the abutment teeth.
Why Consider an Anterior Bridge?
An anterior bridge restores your ability to bite properly, enabling you to once again enjoy your favorite foods. It helps to eliminate a lisp and other speech issues. It prevents your adjacent teeth from shifting out of alignment and improves your oral health. An anterior bridge also helps to improve the quality of your smile, which can help to give you a boost of confidence.
With an anterior bridge, we can replace your missing tooth, restoring your oral health, the functions of your mouth, and the quality of your smile. For more information, call Revive Dental and Implant Center at (304) 467-4265 today. |
